The game was then put away 11 minutes into the second half as Zlatan Ibrahimovic got to the ball inside the area and slipped a pass to Messi in front of goal, allowing the Argentine to easily sweep the ball past the keeper with a first-time strike. Deportivo moved into fourth place as they downed Athletic Bilbao 3-1, while Alvaro Negredo's goal in the 10th minute was enough to lead Sevilla past Almeria, 1-0.
