Braves agree to deal with Redman

03/09/2007 -
Lake Buena Vista, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Atlanta Braves acted quickly in
the wake of Mike Hampton's latest injury, as they have come to terms with free
agent left-hander Mark Redman on a minor league contract.
Redman is expected to report to the Braves on Friday night and is scheduled to
start Saturday's exhibition game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Hampton had been scheduled to start Saturday's contest, but he injured an
oblique muscle in batting practice on Wednesday. He could miss up to two
months after being sidelined 17 months due to reconstructive elbow surgery.
Redman was the Kansas City Royals' lone All-Star representative a year ago,
but was just 11-10 with a 5.71 earned run average. The 33-year-old has
compiled a 64-76 with a 4.65 ERA over the course of eight seasons with the
Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, Florida Marlins, Oakland Athletics,
Pittsburgh Pirates and Royals.
Over the last five seasons (2002-06) he has averaged 30 starts and 186 innings
pitched per season.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch
Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.
Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."
