LOS ANGELES (AP) -The NBA is returning south of the border when the Los Angeles Clippers play the San Antonio Spurs in an Oct. 12 preseason game in Mexico City.

It will be the league's 17th visit to Mexico City and 19th game in the country, the most matchups in any country outside the United States and Canada.

The game will be played as part of the Olympic Sports Festival, which runs Oct. 9-17 as part of the bicentennial celebration of Mexican independence.

The 29-year-old has appeared in 349 career NBA games, most recently taking the court for 15 contests for the Houston Rockets last season. The deal was announced Friday, a day after the Clippers signed free agents Randy Foye and Ryan Gomes.

Cook averaged 1.4 points and 0.6 rebounds in 15 games with Houston last season. The Rockets waived him in February.

The Los Angeles Times reports Foye's deal is for two years and more than $8 million. Gomes' deal is reportedly for three years and $12 million.
